The best of the gallopers to wear owner Bill Lenehan’s all cerise colours. Known as The Milkman, Lenehan was a fierce punter who liked to take his horses to the provincial meetings before bringing them to town. In those days he could get good odds in the strong bookmakers rings. Confidence won his first start at Beaudesert. He won three more times at two years including the feature Tattersall’s Rose Stakes. As a three-year-old he won the 1963 O’Mara Stakes, the QTC Guineas and QTC Derby all for jockey Colin O’Neill. Confidence later won in Melbourne at Moonee Valley and did win a Barnes Plate and President’s Handicap at Eagle Farm. But he was very unlucky in some big races including seconds in the AJC Epsom and Doomben Cup. He later stood at stud.
