Piping Rock-Problem Child
Trainer R.P. Rowley
He was a handy two-year-old but an outstanding three-year-old winning nine of his 18 starts. As a three-year-old he won the 1970 BTC O’Mara Stakes, Doomben Dollars, Queensland Guineas treble as well as four open company races. However, his best run at three was a third to Baguette and Royal Treat in the 1971 Doomben 10,000. It was described as the roughest Group 1 race in history with all three placed jockeys suspended. Waminda also has an unwanted place in history twice getting beaten at long odds on. He was 1-3 when beaten into third in the three horse Eagle Farm Sandgate Handicap in 1971 and he lost his jockey when 1-5 in the 1970 Koomeela Stakes.
