The wife of former champion jockey Noel Best she was responsible for recording Brisbane racing results firstly with the Sportsman newspaper and then as AAP racing services manager. It was a vital role because the service ensured punters around Australia had access to the most minute details of horses, trainers and riders. At the Sportsman it was during the pre-computer age she kept statistics of every runner in a card system. In 1975 she was recruited AAP to handle its results service. She retired in the mid-2000s and died in 2008. The media centres at Doomben and Eagle Farm are named after her.
