The son of the great trainer Bill Tucker, Edward "Georgie" competed in a golden period of Brisbane jockeys in the 20 years before WWII but he still is estimated to have ridden close to 1000 winners. He was noted for his gentle hands which made him a top distance rider. His best winners included the Brisbane Cup (Dereanthis), QTC Derby (High Syce, Wee Glen, Ardglen), QTC Sires' (Wee Glen, Soft Step), Moreton Handicap (Ardglen, Prickles, Diavolo), QTC St Leger (Ardglen), QTC Guineas (Soft Step, Delincare, Irish Smile, Ardglen, Ladamonde, High Syce), Hopeful Stakes (Real Flyer, Wee Glen, Teretina), Spring Stakes (Conquistador), Champagne Stakes (Bradbury), Stanley Plate (Conquistador), Ascot Handicap (Nut Brown), Stand Plate (Glint Lad) and Exhibition Handicap (Glint Lad).
