George Anderson started training in the Warwick area of the Darling Downs where he formed a great partnership with the Barnes family of Canning Downs Stud. He moved to Brisbane in the early 1920 and dominated racing in Brisbane until his death in 1951. Anderson died only months before his horse Basha Felika won the Caulfield Cup, a race he was confident the horse could win. He also trained in Sydney during WWII where his best horse was the filly Tea Rose who won the 1944 AJC Derby. It would be another 35 years before a filly could repeat the effort Tea Rose achieved. Basha Felika

Anderson won the Brisbane premiership 10 times. His best horses included Basha Felika (QTC Derby, QTC St Leger), Tea Rose (AJC Derby), Lady Bine (McDougall Stakes, Claret Stakes, Moreton Handicap, King's Plate, Hinkler Stakes), Great Idea (QTC Sires', QTC Newmarket, Kings Plate, Ascot Handicap), Lominga (Queensland Cup, QTC St Leger), Hourly (QTC Guineas), Maytown (QTC Guineas), Guiding Light (Queensland Cup), Flacon Knight (Kings Cup), Dolled Up (McDougall Stakes), Splitting Head (McDougall Stakes) and Radstock (June Cup ([2]).
