Within the space of a decade Michael Rodd went from being an apprentice carpenter on the NSW central coast to being Australia's best young jockey. In his first year of his apprenticeship with Bryan Guy, on the Gold Coast, he rode nearly 150 winners.
He won the Magic Millions on Regimental Gal as an apprentice and then moved to Melbourne where he became a superstar winning the 2007 Melbourne Cup. Rodd has also ridden with success in Hong Kong and rode in America when partnering the David Hayes-trained Anamato in several races.
